Clinical Nurse Specialist, Emergency Department

There are a total of 4 EDs: Main Adult ED and Trauma Center with 65,000 visits, per year, Pediatric ED with 30,000 visits per year and 2 Freestanding EDs with 35,000 visits each.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist, Emergency Department will serve as a clinical officer for patient care programs and services throughout the Emergency Department and Trauma Center by providing clinical and operational leadership support centered on improving outcomes. Provides clinical and analytical support to the nursing leadership to plan and predict patient care needs based on benchmarking, quality improvement patient acuity/care trends, staff clinical education needs and patient satisfaction. Provides leadership to ensure excellence in nursing research, education, and practice. The CNS provides clinical and leadership support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration. Total nursing FTEs in ED is 280. There are 6 other Clinical Specialists within the organization.
Successful candidates must have a Masters degree in Nursing and CNS license. DNP/PhD preferred. National nursing board certification in specialty area preferred. Minimum of 3 years in advanced practice/leadership role. Evidence of progressive leadership in performance improvement, outcomes management, and implementation/evaluation of evidence-based practice and research. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Demonstrable leadership in integrating programs that cross services, units, and disciplines and influence organizational mission of excellence in patient care.
